Masters Energy Young Entrepreneur Challenge

 

In an effort to encourage entrepreneurial development and identify talent within, the maiden edition of the Young Entrepreneurial Challenge (YEC) premiered at the 2016 Mid Management Retreat which took place from Friday 24th – Saturday 25th June, 2016 at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

The Young Entrepreneurial Challenge (YEC), organized by Masters Energy Learning Academy (MELA) was set-up to identify and support potential business ideas from staff of Masters Energy Group. The winning idea will be provided with technical expertise, mentorship, network and a support of N10 million to start-up the enterprise. Speaking at the retreat, President Masters Energy Group, Dr. Uche Ogah, who likened the Young Entrepreneurial Challenge to such ideas practiced in countries like the US and UK said that “our youths have the capacity to compete with the developed countries and improve our economic status if given opportunity and resources.” He added that “Nigerian youths are very talented but our leaders have failed to provide platforms to encourage entrepreneurial and skill development”. Dr. Ogah further challenged participants to use the retreat as an opportunity to re-strategize and re-group for greater challenges ahead, “Masters Energy Group demands such innovative mindset if we must achieve the greater things we set out to.”

The VC/CEO, Masters Energy Group, Sir, V.U.K Ajala, in his speech charged the participants to be more devoted in their daily task and create innovative ways in carrying out their duties to be more effective as “Masters Energy Group is currently experiencing rapid expansion in both structures and human capacity.” The retreat which was filly packed with informative lecture programs by both internal and external facilitators including, Milestones Achieved since 2013 by Masters Energy Group, GCOO, Mr. Ajay Pandey, Economic Outlook by Group Marketing Director, Mr. Olufemi Sotunde, Empowered to Achieve Greater Things Through Productivity by Remi Dairo of Solvere Word Consult, Developing Your Personal Influence & Impact by Ex. Director, Basic Trust Int’l , Dr. Ola Vincent Odulele , Leadership, Strategy and Change by Steve Harris, Manage your Boss by Head, CASIC, Mr. Uche Johnson and a plenary session on Innovation and Technology by a Group of Panelist from Masters Energy Group.

The highlight of the retreat was the announcement of the winner of Young Entrepreneurial Challenge which was “Group E” that came up with the most successful business plan.
